...that this is a great group to turn to for help. I've been struggling through the "homeschool combat" with family and friends. My family just doesn't know the angle I am coming from - the BIBLE. This has been a major emotional struggle for me this week. Actually, it's only a struggle if I actually think about it and it came up in conversation with my cousin today. My cousin who is my 2nd best human friend and who does not have the strong Biblical standing that I do. Not saying that you all in your strong Biblical faith totally agree with all I'm doing either, but at least you can understand when I say "God called me."
It is REALLY hard for my support system to be perfect strangers that come up to me and hug me, commending me for my dedication to raising my children. Yet, FAMILY doubts me and says my kids would be better off somewhere else.
Oh, this is such a big can of worms. I could type for days on this.
Pray for me, please.
In my beyond-tired, nearly 5 a.m. stupor, I am seeing the wisdom in reaching out to talk with other homeschooling moms that I have not kept in touch with. Three in particular pop into my head and I feel this is God telling me to take the step and ask for reassurance and that these God-loving women will not ignore me or think "oh, NOW she wants to talk to me?"

I watch the Ebeling kids 3 or 4 times a month and have to keep school running while I'm there. It has shown me alot, and I think they are are learning WAY more than I ever did. NOT that I'm against public schools!!) I just love how homeschooling gives you an opportunity to take anything and everything and bring it back to God and how awesome He is! I think God calls us as mothers to look after our kids the very best way we can. For some thats sending them to school, and for others, he send a call to stay home, and teach them there. If you look back through history, the home and the family WAS alot of times the school house. I look up to you,and respect you more, for making it your mission to see that your children are educated with God in the center, instead of an addition to...ok I'm rambling!! But it's your choice and I have seen first hand how much there is to do during a day in the life of homeschoolers, and I think people should give you as much support and love as they can.
If I had been able to (and had been more educated on what homeschooling was about), in a HEARTBEAT I would have done it.
I have had the privilege to know a few homeschool families through KABC, and they are all WONDERFUL!!
You have amazing kids who are going to benefit greatly from this experience. They may not thank you till they're 30, but that's ok...
It's not easy, but the rewards are priceless, so don't you worry!!!
They are right...the ney sayers...think of all that your kids are missing out on:
1. God removed from public schools.
2. School shootings.
3. Increased teen pregnancy.
4. Teachers "dating" students...and going to jail for it.
5. The dumbing down of grades (can't get below a 65 in some schools) so that "No child left behind" does not ill affects the school.
6. Teachers that are payed less than they should be in over crowded schools but asked to more than in a properly crowded school.
7. (insert any number of recent headlines here)
Everyone is right. For the sake of "social" skills...they are sooooo missing out.
What God has called you personally to do can not be cheapened by anyones viewpoint....unless you allow it.
Praying for you,
James
Wow, James, I was just about to strike out at you for standing against me. You and Obama....
Thank you for your support and the pat on the back.
It took me a moment (okay, a whole week) to realize that I was letting "the world" get to me for my Godly decisions. My blog friends are one of my greatest blessings.
